The Department of Biotechnology at Haldia Institute of Technology, established in 2001, has evolved into a dynamic centre of excellence committed to high-quality education, cutting-edge research, and industry-oriented training. Admission Criteria

Eligibility Criteria

For Indian Students

  • B.Tech Programme:
  • Basic Eligibility:
  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 (Higher Secondary) from a recognized board
  • Must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics (PCMB) or Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM)
  • Minimum Marks:
  • Generally, a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in 10+2 is required.
  • Entrance Exam Requirement:
  • Admission is based on performance in WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination) or JEE Main
  • Selection through centralized counselling based on entrance rank/merit.
  • Lateral Entry:
  • Passed Diploma in Engineering/Technology from an AICTE-approved institution. Alternatively, a B.Sc. degree from a recognized university with at least 45% marks in the diploma/B.Sc. (40% for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD). Those with a B.Sc. degree must have passed Class 12 with Mathematics as a compulsory subject.
  • Selection is based on the merit list generated by the JELET exam and subsequent counseling managed by WBJEEB.
