Mr. Nimai Das Bairagya is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology, where he has been serving since 2023. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Processing and Food Engineering at the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST).
He completed his Diploma in Agricultural Engineering from Murshidabad Institute of Technology in 2017, followed by a B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering from Uttar Banga Krishi Vishwavidyalaya in 2020, and an M.Tech in Food Engineering from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya in 2022. His academic and research interests include food processing technologies, food preservation and shelf-life extension, post-harvest engineering, value addition of agricultural produce, and sustainable food systems.
In recognition of his contributions to agricultural education and research, Mr. Nimai Das Bairagya received the Young Academician Award (2024) from the Agro-Environmental Education & Farmers Welfare Society.

Mrs. Ankita Banerjee currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology (HIT), Haldia. With over four years of teaching experience, she has demonstrated excellence in academics, research, and student engagement.
She completed her B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering from Uttar Banga Krishi Vishwavidyalaya and obtained her M.Tech in Farm Machinery and Power from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (BCKV). She is presently pursuing her Ph.D. from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya.
Her research interests include farm machinery and power, agricultural implements, smart agriculture, and the application of artificial intelligence in agriculture. She has published research papers in reputed journals, including JAE and Springer, contributing to advancements in her field.
She is actively engaged in teaching, research, and academic development activities, and has been recognized with the Best Oral Presentation Award at an international conference for her outstanding scholarly contribution.
Dr. Somak Karan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology, where he has been serving since 2017. He earned his PhD in Instrumentation Engineering from the University of Calcutta, with research focusing on advanced process control strategies for delay-dominated industrial systems. His research interests include modified Smith predictor schemes, time-delay compensation, fractional-order controller design, and optimization techniques. Dr. Karan has published 11 journal papers in reputed SCI and Scopus-indexed journals, including Q1 publications, and has one patent filed. He has actively contributed to laboratory development, research mentoring, and institutional academic committees, and is a recipient of the Wiley Top-Cited Article Award. He is also a reviewer for international journals and actively involved in outcome-based education and accreditation activities.

Dr. Uday Maji is a distinguished academic and researcher currently serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation at Haldia Institute of Technology. He holds a PhD in Biomedical Signal Processing from Calcutta University and M.Tech from Jadavpur University and a strong performance in the GATE 2005 examination.
With over a decade of specialized experience, Dr. Maji’s expertise lies at the intersection of Biomedical Instrumentation, IoT, and Machine Learning. His research focuses on developing data-adaptive techniques for characterizing cardiac abnormalities, such as Atrial Fibrillation. He is a prolific author with numerous publications in prestigious journals like IEEE Sensors and Expert Systems With Applications. Beyond research, he has held significant leadership roles, including Hostel Superintendent and In-charge of departmental projects, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to institutional growth and student development.
I am currently serving as the In-Charge of the Industry Institute Partnership Cell, In-Charge of the Business Incubator at HIT, Co-Coordinator of the HIT-AICTE IDEA Lab, and Convener of the Institute’s Innovation and Skill initiatives. Through these roles, I actively promote industry collaboration, innovation, entrepreneurship, and skill development among students. In the past, I have served as Head of the Department (AEIE), Convener of the Examination Committee, Provost of Hostels, In-Charge of Corporate Relations, and have also contributed to the Training Cell of HIT. Dr. Soumya Roy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology, West Bengal. He received his Ph.D. (Engineering) from Jadavpur University with specialization in Instrumentation and Signal Processing. He secured First Class First in his B.E. (Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering) from the University of Burdwan and First Class Second in M.Tech (Instrumentation and Control Engineering) from the University of Calcutta. He also qualified GATE in 2012 and 2013. His research interests include Embedded System, Internet of Things (IoT), Machine Learning, Solar Irradiance Measurement, Solar Signal Analysis, and Solar Cycle Prediction. He has more than a decade of teaching and research experience and has published extensively, with over 37 research contributions including journal papers, book chapters, conference publications, and granted patents. Dr. Asim Halder is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. He holds a B.Tech degree in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, an M..Tech degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. His areas of interest include power system stability, nonlinear and intelligent control, renewable energy integration, and machine learning–based control systems.
Dr. Halder has published research articles in reputed international journals and conferences and is actively involved in guiding undergraduate student projects. He regularly participates in faculty development programmes, research activities, and academic administration. His teaching approach emphasizes conceptual clarity, practical application, and industry relevance. He is committed to fostering innovation, ethical engineering practice, and quality education among students.
Dr. Shamba Chatterjee, with nearly 15.5 years of teaching and research experience, has earned his Ph.D. from IIT Roorkee with DAAD (Germany), GATE, CSIR, and NDF (AICTE) Fellowships, and completed postdoctoral research at Seoul National University, specializing in Animal Cell Culture Engineering, Cancer Biology and Environmental Biotechnology. His research focuses on mammalian and yeast-based bioassay development for biotherapeutics, anticancer agents, and environmental biotechnology. He has authored 19 journal articles, 22 book chapters, and holds 4 published and 11 granted patents (9 National, 2 International). A recipient of the NPTEL Discipline Star Award from IIT Madras. He has achieved 4 Gold and 12 Silver Medal in diverse NPTEL courses from different national institute of eminence as topper. Ms. Aditi Sinha is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Chemical Engineering, Haldia Institute of Technology, West Bengal 721657, India. Ms. Sinha has completed her M.Tech from West Bengal University of Technology presently know as Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) and she received Gold medal (first position) in Master of Technology in Chemical Engineering .After completing her studies she joined industry to gain experience. She has experience of working as a process engineer in pharmaceutical and edible oil refinery. Later she joined as an assistant professor in Haldia Institute of Technology in Department of Chemical Engineering. Her research interest include waste water treatment, synthesis and analysis of nanomaterials, application of nanomaterials and edible oil refining. Dr. Ankita Mazumder is an accomplished academic and researcher in Chemical Engineering, currently serving as Assistant Professor at Haldia Institute of Technology. She completed her Ph.D. in Engineering from Jadavpur University and secured the Departmental Gold Medal during her B.Tech at NIT Agartala. With extensive research experience in membrane separation, electrochemical processes, and advanced wastewater treatment, her work focuses on sustainable environmental technologies, particularly oily wastewater remediation and biofuel production. She has received Junior and Senior Research Fellowships under DST-sponsored projects and the Best Paper Award at ICONSWM 2017. Dr. Mazumder has authored one book, multiple SCI-indexed journal publications, and several book chapters with reputed international publishers. She is a Life Associate Member of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) and actively contributes to research, teaching, and academic mentorship.

Dr. Anoar Ali Khan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology, India. With over a decade of academic and research experience, Dr. Khan has published extensively in reputed peer-reviewed journals and has contributed several book chapters in the field of environmental engineering. Dr. Khan is serving as the Lead Editor of an upcoming edited volume with Apple Academic Press, currently in the advanced stage of publication. I have witnessed ever-increasing research activities with novel solvents for CO2 capture both on theoretical and experimental domains. During my PhD tenure, I have fabricated numerous experimental set-up, designed and successfully operated. Besides, this study provides simultaneously solve problems of heat and mass transfer, chemical reaction kinetics and chemical equilibrium in complex gas-liquid systems. My Post-PhD work involved in the area of Industrial Acid Gas Separation, and Conversion to Highly Valuable Chemicals over Nano-structure Catalysts. Also, I associated with another project i.e., H2 production from methane by Nano-catalyst. I have spent significant time to nurture CO2 capture and its utilization fields that has boosted the capability of working independently in any hydrocarbon related applied Chemical Engineering field. My research agenda for next 5 years was separation of acid gases i.e., H2S, CO2, CS2, and mercaptans with different novel liquid and solid based materials. Also, H2 production from methane pyrolysis using molten salts, (CO2+H2) and (CO+H2) conversion to industrially important chemicals such as methanol, ethanol and higher alcohols over heterogeneous Catalysis.

Mr. Bitan Pratihar obtained his B. Tech in Chemical Engineering from NIT Durgapur (2017) and completed his M. Tech from Chemical Engineering Department of NIT Rourkela (2019). He submitted his PhD Thesis in the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur (2025). He is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Haldia Institute of Technology. Dr. Deepak Kumar Samal is an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology, West Bengal. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Biju Patnaik University of Technology and his M.Tech from IIT Madras.
His research focuses on hydrodynamics of semi-fluidized beds, heat and mass transfer, bubble column dynamics, and refrigeration systems. He has published several SCI-indexed research articles in reputed international journals and holds two granted Indian patents, with additional patents under examination.

Myself, Dr. Monal Dutta, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology, Haldia, West Bengal. I have completed my PhD in Chemical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in the year of 2013 and M.Tech from IT (BHU), Varanasi in the year of 2007. I have twelve years of teaching experience and one year of industrial experience. I have 2 yr postdoctoral research experience in gas phase CO2 electroreduction from chemical engineering department, Lehigh University, USA. I also worked in liquid phase CO2 electroreduction project, also have 1.5 yr postdoc research experience in chemical engineering department, IIT Kharagpur on the job role to develop an electrochemical CO2 reduction catalyst and Photochemical CO2 reduction catalyst. My PhD research, being done focuses on the semiconductor nanoimaterials for electrocatalysis and photocatalysis in both theoretical (DFTsimulation) and experimental scale.

Currently, I am a Professor and the Head of the Chemical Engineering Department at the Haldia Institute of Technology. I possess significant expertise in managing research projects and industrial consultancy assignments. I am supervising four Ph.D. scholars, two registered at MAKAUT and two at Calcutta University. "I am Dr. Sunanda Jana, currently working as an Assiociate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology, West Bengal, where I have been serving since July 2011. Prior to joining Haldia Institute of Technology, I served as an Assistant Professor at GIET, Bhubaneswar. I completed my Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Calcutta in 2025. My doctoral and research work focuses on intelligent optimization, AI-based puzzle solving, cryptography, and secure multimedia communication, particularly through Sudoku-based computational models, genetic algorithms, and security frameworks. Dr. Santanab Giri obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Chemistry from Vidyasagar University. In 2006, he joined the Ph.D. program in the Department of Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, working under the supervision of Professor Pratim Kumar Chattaraj. He completed his doctoral degree in 2011 and subsequently pursued post‑doctoral research at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Chile, and Virginia Commonwealth University, USA.

"Malay K Pandit received his B.E and M. E degrees in Electronics Engineering from Electronics and Telecom Engg Dept, Jadavpur University, India in 1989 and 1991, respectively. He received his PhD from UK’s renowned Cambridge University in 1996. He did his post-doc from the Optoelectronics Research Centre, City University of Hong Kong till 2002 where he pioneered the use of polymers for optical waveguide applications. He then took a corporate career where he worked in a fibre optic company “FONS (I) Ltd” and executed projects of BSNL telecom, Defence DRDO, etc. Now he is a full Professor in the Electronics Engg Dept of the Haldia Institute of Technology where he focuses on embedded systems, including their usage in WDM optical networks. He was the Dean of School of Engineering and School of Electronics and Computer over the period 2012-2014, 2015-2016, respectively. He has 50 international publications and 4 patents in this area.

He initially joined HIT as an Assistant Professor in July 2008 and was promoted to Associate Professor in August 2013. Prior to HIT, Dr. Dey held positions at Dr. K. N. Modi Institute of Engineering & Technology, ABES Engineering College, Ghaziabad, and Sunder Deep Engineering College, Ghaziabad, where he served as Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department. Department of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering & Management, Kolaghat
for ten years. He was an Engineer in R & D Centre of M/s Hindustan Motors Ltd. West Bengal,
India. He has published 3 edited volume books at IGI Global Publication, USA. He has published 90
research articles, including, 35 International Journal Papers, 20 International Book Chapters and
33 Conference papers. Under his esteemed supervision, several scholars have completed them
doctorate degrees and masters’ degrees, and some are continuing. Prof. Bose has executed a
several sponsored projects of CSIR, MODROB etc. He has completed several consultancies works
with Tata Steel HMC Division Haldia, Indian Oil Co. Ltd. Haldia Division, Maneksia
Aluminum Co. Ltd. Haldia. He has an Indian patent entitled “AI based Robot for Vehicle
Manufacturing”.
Currently he is the coordinator of HIT AICTE IDEA lab.

Shri Nilabha Sankar Mitra , son of late Shri Nripendra Nath Mitra and late Smt Ila Mitra was born in 27th March, 1972.He has passed his Madhyamik Examination from Hindu School Kolkata in 1988 securing 78.6 percent and obtained National Scholarship for merit. He passed his Higher Secondary Examination from Hindu School, Kolkata securing 79.1 percent and again obtained National Scholarship of merit. He obtained Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from BIT Mesra, Ranchi, Jharkhand in 1994 securing 80.4% and got 1st Class with Distinction. He passed PGDBM (Finance) from Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management in 1998 securing 1st Class (68.5 percent) and Master in Production Engineering (specialization in Production Technology) from Jadavpur University, Kolkata in 2000 securing 82 percent and obtained First Position in First Class securing University Medal. Dr. Prabir Kumar Kar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology, West Bengal. He received his Ph.D. in Energy Science and Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, where his research focused on heat transport enhancement in Rayleigh–Bénard convection through geometric modifications. His research interests include turbulent thermal convection, multiphase flows, battery thermal management, and energy conversion and storage. Dr. Kar has published extensively in reputed international journals such as Physical Review Fluids, Physics of Fluids, ASME Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, Acta Mechanica, and International Journal of Multiphase Flow. He has also contributed to experimental, numerical, and industrial research projects, including work on battery thermal management and fuel cell modeling. Dr. Pradip Mondal currently working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Haldia Institute of Technology (HIT), West Bengal. He obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from IIEST Shibpur in 2017. He has previously served as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Teesside University, UK and held academic positions at IIEST Shibpur, NIT Sikkim, SR University. His research expertise spans thermodynamics, thermo-economics, hydrogen energy, municipal solid waste to energy conversion, energy systems modelling and decarbonisation technologies. Dr. Mondal has published extensively in leading international journals, with highly cited works on biomass gasification, waste-to-energy systems, and hybrid renewable energy solutions. His notable contributions include optimization studies of biomass and MSW-based combined cycle plants, performance modelling of hydrogen energy systems, and machine-learning-based assessments of hybrid renewable energy systems.

I am Rahul Das, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology. Dr. Sourav Ganguli was a PhD scholar specializing in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and discrete element method (DEM) simulations, with a focus on multiphase flows, granular systems, and particle-laden turbulence. His research centers on the numerical modeling of fluid–particle interactions in complex industrial systems such as pneumatic conveying and fluidized beds. He has extensive experience with CFD–DEM coupling, turbulence modeling, and particle contact mechanics, aiming to improve predictive capabilities for multiphase flow simulations. Dr. Ganguli’s academic interests include turbulence in multiphase flows and granular flow physics. He is actively involved in mentoring students and is committed to teaching core subjects such as fluid mechanics, multiphase flow, heat transfer, and computational methods. His long-term goal is to develop robust, physics-based models for industrially relevant multiphase systems.

Dr. Sourav Pattanayak is serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology. He has more than nine years of teaching experience. He completed his M.Tech in Mechanics of Solids from IIEST Shibpur in 2016 and earned his Ph.D. in the field of Structural Mechanics from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, in 2025. His research work focuses on smart structural systems, fracture mechanics, fatigue life improvement, and numerical analysis using the finite element method. He has published five research papers in reputed peer-reviewed journals and edited books and has presented five research papers at reputed international conferences.
