Mr. Nimai Das Bairagya is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology, where he has been serving since 2023. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Processing and Food Engineering at the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST).
He completed his Diploma in Agricultural Engineering from Murshidabad Institute of Technology in 2017, followed by a B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering from Uttar Banga Krishi Vishwavidyalaya in 2020, and an M.Tech in Food Engineering from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya in 2022. His academic and research interests include food processing technologies, food preservation and shelf-life extension, post-harvest engineering, value addition of agricultural produce, and sustainable food systems.
In recognition of his contributions to agricultural education and research, Mr. Nimai Das Bairagya received the Young Academician Award (2024) from the Agro-Environmental Education & Farmers Welfare Society.

Mrs. Ankita Banerjee currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology (HIT), Haldia. With over four years of teaching experience, she has demonstrated excellence in academics, research, and student engagement.
She completed her B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering from Uttar Banga Krishi Vishwavidyalaya and obtained her M.Tech in Farm Machinery and Power from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (BCKV). She is presently pursuing her Ph.D. from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya.
Her research interests include farm machinery and power, agricultural implements, smart agriculture, and the application of artificial intelligence in agriculture. She has published research papers in reputed journals, including JAE and Springer, contributing to advancements in her field.
She is actively engaged in teaching, research, and academic development activities, and has been recognized with the Best Oral Presentation Award at an international conference for her outstanding scholarly contribution.

Dr. Somak Karan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology, where he has been serving since 2017. He earned his PhD in Instrumentation Engineering from the University of Calcutta, with research focusing on advanced process control strategies for delay-dominated industrial systems. His research interests include modified Smith predictor schemes, time-delay compensation, fractional-order controller design, and optimization techniques. Dr. Karan has published 11 journal papers in reputed SCI and Scopus-indexed journals, including Q1 publications, and has one patent filed. He has actively contributed to laboratory development, research mentoring, and institutional academic committees, and is a recipient of the Wiley Top-Cited Article Award. He is also a reviewer for international journals and actively involved in outcome-based education and accreditation activities.

Dr. Uday Maji is a distinguished academic and researcher currently serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation at Haldia Institute of Technology. He holds a PhD in Biomedical Signal Processing from Calcutta University and M.Tech from Jadavpur University and a strong performance in the GATE 2005 examination.
With over a decade of specialized experience, Dr. Maji’s expertise lies at the intersection of Biomedical Instrumentation, IoT, and Machine Learning. His research focuses on developing data-adaptive techniques for characterizing cardiac abnormalities, such as Atrial Fibrillation. He is a prolific author with numerous publications in prestigious journals like IEEE Sensors and Expert Systems With Applications. Beyond research, he has held significant leadership roles, including Hostel Superintendent and In-charge of departmental projects, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to institutional growth and student development.

I am currently serving as the In-Charge of the Industry Institute Partnership Cell, In-Charge of the Business Incubator at HIT, Co-Coordinator of the HIT-AICTE IDEA Lab, and Convener of the Institute’s Innovation and Skill initiatives. Through these roles, I actively promote industry collaboration, innovation, entrepreneurship, and skill development among students. Dr. Soumya Roy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology, West Bengal. He received his Ph.D. (Engineering) from Jadavpur University with specialization in Instrumentation and Signal Processing. He secured First Class First in his B.E. (Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering) from the University of Burdwan and First Class Second in M.Tech (Instrumentation and Control Engineering) from the University of Calcutta. He also qualified GATE in 2012 and 2013. His research interests include Embedded System, Internet of Things (IoT), Machine Learning, Solar Irradiance Measurement, Solar Signal Analysis, and Solar Cycle Prediction. He has more than a decade of teaching and research experience and has published extensively, with over 37 research contributions including journal papers, book chapters, conference publications, and granted patents. Dr. Asim Halder is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. His areas of interest include power system stability, nonlinear and intelligent control, renewable energy integration, and machine learning–based control systems.
Dr. Halder has published research articles in reputed international journals and conferences and is actively involved in guiding undergraduate student projects. He regularly participates in faculty development programmes, research activities, and academic administration. His teaching approach emphasizes conceptual clarity, practical application, and industry relevance. He is committed to fostering innovation, ethical engineering practice, and quality education among students.

Dr. Shamba Chatterjee, with nearly 15.5 years of teaching and research experience, has earned his Ph.D. from IIT Roorkee with DAAD (Germany), GATE, CSIR, and NDF (AICTE) Fellowships, and completed postdoctoral research at Seoul National University, specializing in Animal Cell Culture Engineering, Cancer Biology and Environmental Biotechnology. His research focuses on mammalian and yeast-based bioassay development for biotherapeutics, anticancer agents, and environmental biotechnology. He has authored 19 journal articles, 22 book chapters, and holds 4 published and 11 granted patents (9 National, 2 International). A recipient of the NPTEL Discipline Star Award from IIT Madras. He has achieved 4 Gold and 12 Silver Medal in diverse NPTEL courses from different national institute of eminence as topper. Ms. Aditi Sinha is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Chemical Engineering, Haldia Institute of Technology, West Bengal 721657, India. Ms. Sinha has completed her M.Tech from West Bengal University of Technology presently know as Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) and she received Gold medal (first position) in Master of Technology in Chemical Engineering .After completing her studies she joined industry to gain experience. She has experience of working as a process engineer in pharmaceutical and edible oil refinery. Later she joined as an assistant professor in Haldia Institute of Technology in Department of Chemical Engineering. Her research interest include waste water treatment, synthesis and analysis of nanomaterials, application of nanomaterials and edible oil refining. She has participated in different International and National conferences like International Conference on Nanotechnology(ICNT) and shared her research experience as an invited speaker. She has also published paper on Application of Nanotechnology in Fire and safety in ICNT. Presently she is working in an MSME project which covers her interest in waste water treatment.

Dr. Ankita Mazumder is an accomplished academic and researcher in Chemical Engineering, currently serving as Assistant Professor at Haldia Institute of Technology. She completed her Ph.D. in Engineering from Jadavpur University and secured the Departmental Gold Medal during her B.Tech at NIT Agartala. With extensive research experience in membrane separation, electrochemical processes, and advanced wastewater treatment, her work focuses on sustainable environmental technologies, particularly oily wastewater remediation and biofuel production. She has received Junior and Senior Research Fellowships under DST-sponsored projects and the Best Paper Award at ICONSWM 2017. Dr. Mazumder has authored one book, multiple SCI-indexed journal publications, and several book chapters with reputed international publishers. She is a Life Associate Member of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) and actively contributes to research, teaching, and academic mentorship.

Dr. Anoar Ali Khan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology, India. He specializes in environmental pollution control, CO₂ capture, wastewater treatment, and sustainable remediation technologies. With over a decade of academic and research experience, Dr. Khan has published extensively in reputed peer-reviewed journals and has contributed several book chapters in the field of environmental engineering. His research focuses on innovative and sustainable solutions for industrial effluent treatment and resource recovery. Dr. Khan is serving as the Lead Editor of an upcoming edited volume with Apple Academic Press, currently in the advanced stage of publication. Recently, he joined the Editorial Board of the journal Discover Sustainability (Springer Nature) and serves as a reviewer for several reputed journals published by Elsevier, Springer Nature, Wiley, Taylor & Francis, and ACS Publications. His work reflects a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and applied research excellence.

I have witnessed ever-increasing research activities with novel solvents for CO2 capture both on theoretical and experimental domains. During my PhD tenure, I have fabricated numerous experimental set-up, designed and successfully operated. Besides, this study provides simultaneously solve problems of heat and mass transfer, chemical reaction kinetics and chemical equilibrium in complex gas-liquid systems. My Post-PhD work involved in the area of Industrial Acid Gas Separation, and Conversion to Highly Valuable Chemicals over Nano-structure Catalysts. Also, I associated with another project i.e., H2 production from methane by Nano-catalyst. I have spent significant time to nurture CO2 capture and its utilization fields that has boosted the capability of working independently in any hydrocarbon related applied Chemical Engineering field. My research agenda for next 5 years was separation of acid gases i.e., H2S, CO2, CS2, and mercaptans with different novel liquid and solid based materials. Also, H2 production from methane pyrolysis using molten salts, (CO2+H2) and (CO+H2) conversion to industrially important chemicals such as methanol, ethanol and higher alcohols over heterogeneous Catalysis.

Mr. Bitan Pratihar obtained his B. Tech in Chemical Engineering from NIT Durgapur (2017) and completed his M. Tech from Chemical Engineering Department of NIT Rourkela (2019). He submitted his PhD Thesis in the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur (2025). He is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Haldia Institute of Technology. His research interests include the design and development of functional materials for energy and environmental applications, application of AI/ML in chemical engineering, etc. He has published 11 papers in peer-reviewed international journals, 2 conference papers, and 1 book chapter. He received Institute Medal for Branch Topper in Chemical Engineering during M. Dr. Deepak Kumar Samal is an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology, West Bengal. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Biju Patnaik University of Technology and his M.Tech from IIT Madras.
His research focuses on hydrodynamics of semi-fluidized beds, heat and mass transfer, bubble column dynamics, and refrigeration systems. He has published several SCI-indexed research articles in reputed international journals and holds two granted Indian patents, with additional patents under examination.

Myself, Dr. Monal Dutta, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology, Haldia, West Bengal. I have completed my PhD in Chemical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in the year of 2013 and M.Tech from IT (BHU), Varanasi in the year of 2007. I have twelve years of teaching experience and one year of industrial experience. Dr. Mandal demonstrated his technical skills through continuous consultancy in industries such as Rosoi limited West Bengal, Grow Capital for Trading Estd. Al-jazerah, Riyadh etc.
He has almost 18 years teaching experience in Process Synthesis, Modeling, Simulation, and Control, also delivered significant numbers of expert lectures in internship, entrepreneurship development training and startup programs. He has coordinated number of training programs for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Myself Sonali Samanta, Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology, Haldia. I have completed B.Tech from HIT in the year of 2009 and then Pursued M.E. from Jadavpur University in the year of 2013. Then I joined HIT in August,2014. I like to do my research work on Conversion of Waste materials to value added chemicals, fuels, catalysts which can be used for waste water treatment, production of renewable energy. Also, I like to enrich myself by attaining the Swayam/NPTEL Courses offered by various IITs. I achieved Course Topper position in Introduction to process Modelling in the membrane Separation Process (Year-2018) and material Science and Engineering (Year-2025) in Swayam NPTEL Platform. Also, received 3rd position in Poster Presentation in International Conference on “Advancement of Green Technology for Sustainable Environment (Green Tech-25)”

Dr. Sourav Poddar is a Chemical Engineer and academic researcher with over a decade of experience spanning sustainable energy systems, chemical process intensification, and environmental technologies. He holds a PhD from Jadavpur University and completed postdoctoral research at the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli, focusing on biomass pyrolysis, circular economy frameworks, and hydrogen production. Dr. Poddar has served as faculty at NIT Warangal and is currently an Assistant Professor at Haldia Institute of Technology. His expertise includes process modeling and simulation using Aspen Plus and Simulink, techno-economic analysis, catalysis, and bioenergy systems. He has published more than 25 peer-reviewed articles, authored multiple book chapters, supervised undergraduate and postgraduate research, and filed a patent in waste-to-energy technologies. His work bridges fundamental research with industrial applicability and sustainability goals.

Dr. Suman Saha is an Assistant Professor in Chemical Engineering at the Haldia Institute of Technology, India. He holds a Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, where his research focused on membrane separation technologies for environmental applications, particularly wastewater treatment and fouling control. His expertise includes membrane science, biochemical engineering, advanced oxidation processes, and sustainable waste management. Dr. Saha has served in academic roles at several institutions, including Parul University, NIT Hamirpur, and MNNIT Allahabad. He has published multiple SCI-indexed journal papers, book chapters, and conference articles, and has received awards for research presentations along with an MHRD scholarship. With strong teaching, research, and administrative experience, he is committed to developing innovative, environmentally responsible engineering solutions and advancing chemical engineering education.

I hold a B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D. from Calcutta University. With over 12 years of experience in various responsible roles across three chemical process industries, I have devoted the past 21 years to academia. Currently, I am a Professor and the Head of the Chemical Engineering Department at the Haldia Institute of Technology. My academic contributions include approximately 70 publications in national and international journals and conferences. I possess significant expertise in managing research projects and industrial consultancy assignments. I am supervising four Ph.D. scholars, two registered at MAKAUT and two at Calcutta University. Additionally, I am affiliated with three professional organizations: the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE), the Institution of Engineers India (IEI), and the Indian Chemical Society (ICS). Since 2024, I have been serving as the Honorary Secretary of the National Council of IIChE since 2024 to 2026.

Dr. Sutapa Roy is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Haldia Institute of Technology, West Bengal. She has over 19 years of teaching experience. She earned her PhD degree from Jadavpur University. Her research is concentrated on the novel separation process like supercritical fluid extraction, essential oil extraction, and polymer composites. She developed various laboratories like fluid mechanics lab, heat transfer lab, and environmental engineering lab. She has authored several papers in the peer-reviewed international journal, and conference proceedings. She is a member of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (India) and The Institute of Engineers (India). She actively organised many events under student chapter of Haldia Regional Centre. She has led as chairperson in several technical sessions of prestigious conferences. She is actively involved in organizing various seminars, conferences including CHEMCON, SCHEMCON events of IIChE.

Dr. Tanushree Ghosh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology. She earned her B.Tech from Haldia Institute of Technology (WBUT) in 2006, followed by an M.Tech from NIT Durgapur in 2008, and a Ph.D. from NIT Durgapur in 2023. She is a member of IIChE and IEI.With over 17 years of teaching experience at Haldia Institute of Technology, Dr. Ghosh’s teaching focuses on mass transfer, heat transfer, and material and energy balance calculations. Her research centers on chemical engineering topics such as hydrodynamics, mass transfer, and adsorption kinetics for CO2 physisorption under dilute-phase pneumatic transport conditions.Dr. Ghosh has authored four journal publications and holds four published patents. She has been involved in research project submissions. She has delivered invited lecture and has more than 35 conference and seminar publications.
Committed to continuous professional development, she has completed numerous faculty development programs and short courses, including several NPTEL and IIT/IISc offerings on subjects such as Petroleum Technology, Membrane Technology, Flow Through Porous Media, Process Modeling in Membrane Separation, and Outcome-Based Pedagogic Principles.

I am currently working as a Professor at the Department of Chemical
Engineering, Haldia Institute of Technology, Haldia, West Bengal, India. I am
founder and managing partner at ORB Cleantech Inc delivering design,
consultancy and training solution to Green hydrogen, CCUS and process
engineering. I have extensive experience in academic leadership, research
development, and quality assurance, with roles at University of Melbourne,
Australia; Curtin University, Malaysia; Qatar University, Qatar; DSCE,
Bengaluru, including committee leadership and curriculum enhancement. I
have proven track record in ABET, IChemE, NBA, NAAC, EAC, Engineers
Australia accreditation, student mentorship, and driving academic excellence
through strategic initiatives and institutional growth efforts. I have developed
academic linkages with overseas universities. I earned M.Tech. & Ph.D in
Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and
completed postdoctoral training at the University of Melbourne, Australia.
Additionally, I have led energy and environment research clusters in Malaysia
and secured 13 research grants from government agencies and industries.

I am an alumnus of Haldia Institute of Technology and currently serve as the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at my alma mater. I hold an M.Tech from National Institute of Technology Agartala and a Ph.D. from National Institute of Technology Durgapur.

With experience spanning both industry and academia—including my tenure at Ramgarh Engineering College—my work focuses on geotechnical and foundation engineering, with an emphasis on integrating AI-driven solutions into civil engineering practice.

Dr. Bidesh Chakraborty is a Professor and Head, in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, at Haldia Institute of Technology, West Bengal, India. With 16 years of teaching experience, he is recognized as an expert in his field. His current research centres on computer vision, focusing on topics like image classification, segmentation, and object detection, though his earlier research interests included Cellular Automata. Dr. Chakraborty earned his B.Tech degree from West Bengal University of Technology in 2005, followed by a Master of Engineering from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, where he also completed his Ph.D. in 2019. Over his academic career, he has made significant contributions to indexed journals and conference proceedings through numerous research publications. He supervises six Ph.D. scholars from different universities, and regularly serves as a resource person delivering lectures in FDPs.

Dr. Subir Gupta, an associate professor in the AI & ML Department at Haldia Institute of Technology, West Bengal, has a PhD from IIEST, Shibpur. With over 24 years of teaching experience, he has authored more than 75 research papers (Scopus/SCI) and holds four patents. Dr. Gupta has also edited two international books and is the solo author of another, significantly contributing to advancements in computer science education and innovation.
