There is no yardstick to measure a society's growth other than making a qualitative assessment of its multidimensional activities. Education, being one of the most important areas of social activities which can be studied, analyzed and visualized to have a feeling about how a society has been performing. In today's fast moving world, technical education has taken a large share of the entire education sector and all of us, knowingly or unknowingly, are part of this system which is undergoing radical changes.

We, at Haldia Institute of Technology, are making our earnest and humble attempt to cope up with this trend. Having started our journey in 1996, it has been our constant endeavor to upgrade, modify and improve upon our standards to match the country's need. Our guiding principle is constant change, motivation and up-gradation — creating state-of-the-art knowledge infrastructure for our students, instilling in them the ability to learn so that they can face any challenge anywhere in the world.

We sincerely feel that education should build character, sharpen the intellect and encourage free thinking. The idea is not to give the students just an assembly-line degree but to sculpt young minds into giants in knowledge with upright character and unwavering ethics. Today, Haldia Institute of Technology has become an icon of technical education in this part of the country. I am grateful to all our patrons, well-wishers and guardians for what we are today. We look forward to a relationship where the learning quotient rises above the mere imparting of academic knowledge to education with excellent attitudes, values, morals and skills for the good of humanity.

The life and activities across the globe in the early 21st Century are undergoing unprecedented socio-economic changes due to growing geo-political issues, climate change, stringent business requirements, and rapid technological innovations. The tumultuous business environment has given rise to steep competition and volatility, fueled by mushrooming growth of digital technologies and rampant use of social media platforms. Academic institutions are no way exempted from these evolving uncertainties and challenges.

It is extremely important that engineering institutions revisit their practices and channelize their endeavor to educate students with all-round capabilities to confront ever-increasing professional challenges by providing value-driven, sustainable, and resilient solutions.

Haldia Institute of Technology, with its rich legacy and credentials of benchmark quality accreditation, has already recognized the necessary transformative requirements.
